We are looking for a motivated Resettlement Case Worker to join our Private Refugee Sponsorship Program – Afghan Response Initiative team! This position will be based at our Vancouver location.

BACKGROUND:

MOSAIC is a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) with the Canadian Government, supporting refugees to resettle to Canada through Canada's Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) Program. Since 2017, MOSAIC has been involved with the private sponsorship of hundreds of refugees in need of resettlement, and our exceptional work has been recognized by the United Nations Refugee Agency and government bodies in Canada and abroad.

POSITION FUNCTION:

Through our Afghan Refugee Response Initiative, MOSAIC is working alongside the Afghan and wider Canadian communities to provide essential refugee co-sponsorship services to support the private sponsorship of Afghan refugees. Under the supervision of the Afghan Response Initiative Coordinator, the Resettlement Case Worker provides support to the team and co-sponsor groups as they prepare, submit, and undertake private refugee sponsorship applications.

The Resettlement Case Worker will provide necessary support in carrying out this important work. This will include but is not limited to:

  • Supporting the preparation of key sponsorship documents required to submit applications
  • Scheduling preliminary interviews with prospective co-sponsors
  • Tracking receipt of documents and following up with co-sponsors regarding missing documents and information
  • Tracking completion of criminal record checks and following up with co-sponsors by email and phone as required
  • Printing documents for signature, scanning and emailing signed documents, and maintaining document records
  • Assisting with the delivery of co-sponsor training sessions
  • Scheduling and conducting post-arrival check-in meetings with the newcomers and co-sponsors
  • Responding to phone and email inquiries regarding the Afghan Response Initiative

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience will be accepted
  • Demonstrated experience and/or detailed knowledge of Canada's Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills; experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality and privacy of client information
  • Empathetic, respectful and discrete; remains tactful and patient during stressful situations
  • Demonstrates awareness of clear boundaries, conflict resolution abilities, and trauma informed care
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong time-management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Flexible and adaptable with ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English; a secondary language will be considered an asset (in particular, Farsi or Pashto)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (in particular, advanced Excel skills)
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check

HOURS:

35 hours per week. Please note, this is a limited term position until March 31st, 2025.

The successful candidate may be permitted to work a hybrid work model (combination of in-office and remote work). Candidate must be able to commute to MOSAIC HQ 5575 Boundary Road, Vancouver.

BENEFITS:

A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
