This role's main purpose is in the risk mitigation of hazards that are inherent to some ingredients utilized in the manufacturing of Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream. The additional specific duties as outlined within this description support the company's food safety & quality objectives. This position is situated at the Kawartha Dairy Distribution Centre.

What You'll Do:

Raw Material Inspections (Major Responsibility):

  • Inspecting pre-determined quantities of raw materials for foreign matter via
    • Hopper and magnet assembly
    • and/or visual sorting and inspection
  • Coordinating required raw material inspections with the manufacturing schedule in a timely and efficient manner
  • Overall upkeep, organization and sanitation of the inspection room following inspection activities
  • Report on and documentation of inspection activities and any findings

Distribution Centre & QA Support:

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Distribution Centre & QA employees
  • Liaise between the Distribution Centre & Manufacturing Plant on quality related matters that arise
  • Coordination of physical samples of raw materials or finished products as required
  • Support CAR (Corrective Action Request) investigations as required (for example: inventory checks, label verifications, sampling, etc.)

Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Get the Job Done:

  • High School Diploma required or a combination of equivalent experience;
  • Ability to operate (or willingness to learn) Reach Truck and walk behind forklift (“walkie”);
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with others;
  • Able to work in refrigerated and freezing temperatures.
