Position: Materials Management Buyer

Status: Temporary Full-Time (up to 4 months with possible extension)

Department: Materials Management

Union Association: CUPE

Salary: $24.57 to $28.18/hour

Hours: Day shifts (Monday to Friday) 8 hour shifts (Hours subject to change based on operational needs)

Position Summary:

Working under the supervision of the Supervisor Materials Management (3SO) and as a Member of the Materials Management Team, the Buyer is responsible for the day-to-day liaison between Brockville General Hospital and 3SO for procurement related issues and will collaborate with 3SO Strategic Sourcing and procurement team to assist in cost containment, product standardization, vendor consolidation and other supply chain management strategies that maximize value while ensuring that qualitative standards are maintained.

With a significant commitment to customer service, the Buyer must provide support to user departments in all aspects of the procurement process; sourcing, purchasing, follow up and after purchase service.

The Buyer participates in department and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment.

The Buyer must actively contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Community College Diploma (Business Administration or equivalent/ purchasing or operations management)
  • Courses in Purchasing / Public purchasing, and demonstrated knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures related to hospital and medical supplies.
  • Understanding of Broader Public Sector Purchasing Directives
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail applications
  • Demonstrated mathematical, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal with a variety of staff and suppliers in a tactful and sensitive manner.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants with a professional supply chain designation (ie SCMP designation under supply chain management etc.)
  • Work requires demonstrated experience in purchasing with preference given to those
  • individuals with related experience in a hospital/health care environment. (minimum one year experience)
