This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days in the office each week.

As an FSQA Manager, you will oversee regulatory processes and manage specification libraries, ensuring compliance with labeling requirements for all North American products. This role involves providing regulatory leadership, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Canadian and US food labeling regulations, and guiding cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies. This position plays a critical role in influencing regulatory policy decisions and supporting our commitment to quality and compliance.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide regulatory leadership with expertise in Canadian and US Food labelling regulations.
  • Monitor changes in the regulatory environment and communicate their impact internally.
  • Maintain regulatory knowledge to support the business for compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Influence and educate stakeholders on regulatory policy decisions.
  • Manage Regulatory approval process for new products, including finished food specification and product labels.
  • Direct Regulatory analysts on project assignments and provide guidance and support for timely completion.
  • Manage Specification library on SharePoint and communicate updates across the supply chain.
  • Manage Genesis and/or other nutritional database.
  • Provide Regulatory Support to the Commercialization Process.
  • Interact with outside organizations to ensure compliance with all set criteria, to include Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, Organic, Whole Grain, and other programs as needed.
  • Support bakeries with regulatory and specification information for GFSI, third party audits, and customer audits.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology or related discipline – Masters or Registered Dietician a plus or sufficient experience in the food industry to cover the technical skills needed
  • 5+ year's specification and labelling experience with demonstrable increases in responsibility and dealing with complex, multiple products.
  • Familiar with the National Labeling Education Act, including 2018 NFP requirements.
  • Knowledge/expertise in US FDA Food Labelling Regulations, Canadian Food Labelling Regulations and requirements for Bioengineering, Organic, Proposition 65, non-GM, Kosher, and Halal.
  • Experience with international regulations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Nutritional database/software programs and label-creation programs (e.g. NiceLabel, EasyLabel).
  • Proficient in computer applications, including SAP, MS Office, SharePoint, Adobe, and nutritional database/software program.
