Summary/Job Scope:

The Human Resources Manager works proactively with both plant and corporate personnel in the development of human resources strategies that align the work force with business performance goals and needs. Works collaboratively with both management and employees to implement site and corporate policies, programs and initiatives that are both strategic and operational in their scope.

This position will manage the following activities: employment, compensation, employee relations, labor relations, benefits, training, safety program, risk management, and community relations. Decision making ability for policies and procedures. Audit HR Manager Performance regularly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as consultant to managers on relevant federal and state employment laws; legal, ethical and work-related issues; HR process, programs and policies; and employee disciplinary issues.
  • Provides leadership in negotiating and interpreting the collective agreements, trains supervisors to understand its meaning and the implications of decisions and actions in dealing with the unionized labor force. Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Develops and maintains an effective department work environment and creates and promotes harmonious working relationships with other departments and employees.
  • Coaches and supports managers and supervisors on all processes of performance management to ensure that they are understood and being used.
  • Provides training on the processes of interviewing, hiring and termination to managers and supervisors.
  • Liaises with local and Corporate Human Resources in the administration of payroll, benefits programs, pension plans, and all HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the HRIS system (SAP) ensuring accurate data input and integrity are maintained.
  • Develops and maintains key performance indicator reports through Dayforce Ceridian including, but not limited to, turnover, headcount, cost per hire, open positions, recruiting activity, overtime, organizational charts, etc.
  • Works with the Talent Acquisition team to manage and lead the processes of selection and recruitment for the plant.
  • Develops, presents and maintains a defined and effective employee orientation program ensuring all new employees receive orientation to foster learning and positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Ensures Company's HR processes are supported and administered in a timely basis including but not limited to, BSC scorecard development, bonus payout, merit increases, employee development (SDV & IDP), climate survey.
  • Coordinates all plant training on legislated issues including harassment, labor standards and human rights. Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Training, Industrial Psychology, or a related field. Master's degree or industry-specific certifications are a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in training and development, with a focus on the manufacturing Industry.
  • CHRL or CHRP is an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, safety protocols, and industry regulations.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and delivery of technical and safety training.
  • Familiarity with learning technologies and e-learning platforms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
