We're currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This critical role will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting duties as well as preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and leading year-end activities.

What You'll Do & How You'll Make an Impact

  • Accounts payable – validating expenditures against purchase orders, coding and entering invoices/expense reports, and paying suppliers
  • Accounts receivable – deposit cheques and perform all cash applications
  • Manage all cash and treasury functions, including monthly bank reconciliations
  • Annual review of insurance coverage for commercial general liability and automobile
  • Manage H2Safety's fleet of vehicles, ensuring proper allocation of expenses by vehicle
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for presentation to Senior Leadership Team, including but not limited to, profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
  • Prepare monthly financial analysis on variances to targets
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules
  • Lead the annual budgeting process as well as the monthly revenue and expenditure forecast process
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts
  • Responsible for federal and provincial sales tax reporting
  • Assist with the completion of the annual external audit process, including the generation of reviewed financial statements, federal and provincial corporate tax returns, and SRED
  • Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Perform other accounting duties, as required

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of full cycle accounting experience
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Excel; proficient in other MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to communicate effectively at a professional level (including reading, writing, and verbal) within all levels of the organization
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong attentional to detail

Bonus Experience

  • Experience creating SQL queries/working with SQL server
  • Experience working with Quick Books Online
  • Working towards a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
