WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Provide life skills support to adults with physical disabilities to achieve their goals
- Provide personal support services (i.e., activities of daily living, lifts/transfers, bowel/bladder routines, dressing/undressing, skin care, respiration, meals/drinks, general hygiene) to clients in their homes
- Be part of the UNIFOR union
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- A passion for providing exceptional personal support services to male clients
- Ability to lift and transfer clients
- Manages time in co-operation with clients to complete tasks
- Ability to accept direction from client's regarding services
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution and judgment skills
- Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 computer skills (Outlook, Word)
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Post secondary degree/diploma in Developmental Service Worker (DSW)
- PSW certificate from an accredited Ministry of Health School will be an asset
Or
- Post secondary degree/diploma in human services and/or other healthcare related field of study
- Plus two (2) years' experience teaching daily living skills to adults with physical disabilities and augmentative communication requirements
- PSW certificate from an accredited Ministry of Health School will be an asset
- Proof of First Aid and CPR certificate
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Person)
WHAT HOURS YOU'LL WORK totaling 32 hours:
- Monday: 7:30 am –3:30 pm
- Tuesday: 7:30 am –3:30 pm
- Wednesday: OFF
- Thursday: OFF
- Friday: OFF
- Saturday: 7:30 am –3:30 pm
- Sunday:7:30 am –3:30 pm
