FORKLIFT OPERATOR

CGC Inc. is a leading marketer, manufacturer and distributor of gypsum wallboard products, interior finishing material and suspended acoustical ceilings. With locations around the world, CGC and USG have the resources, plants, products and people to build walls, ceilings and careers.

CGC Inc. is currently recruiting for a Forklift Operator for our ceilings plant, based in Oakville, Ontario.

It's a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation.

Under the guidance of the Supply Chain Supervisor, the Production Operator conducts the daily operations of the Supply Chain Department. The operator will have the opportunity to be trained on the five operator rate positions in the department as skill and ability is gained.

Additional responsibilities of the Forklift Operator include:

  • Efficiently building crates for Specialty products.
  • Operating a forklift in a safety manner.
  • Utilizing Oracle to receive orders and print labels.
  • Assisting with Department to meet or exceed plant goals in waste/scrap.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties, as required.
  • Assisting with the implementation of the RPM Program including supporting, scheduling and maintaining all rules and procedures related to the Supply Chain's RPM initiative.
  • Ensuring all safety guidelines are being followed and enforced in accordance with current legislative requirements and CGC policy.
  • Exercising personal safety, as well as promoting and enforcing safety among crew members.
  • Developing and maintaining good employee morale and working relationships within the department and with other departments at the plant.
  • Assisting in the implementation of USG/CGC Model Programs, Safety Rules, VWIs/JSAs and Standard Operating Procedures, as required.
  • Carrying out special projects and assignments as directed by Management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Forklift license and previous forklift experience is required.
  • Experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
  • Ability to recognize unsafe conditions or hazards within the work area.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills and the ability to work as a team.
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to changing business conditions to support the needs of the department.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be a people and results-oriented individual who incorporates and emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work environment.
  • Able to work flexible hours and all shifts.

Hourly wage: $28.10

Schedule: Monday through Friday - 7am-3pm

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
