Job Title: Planner/Scheduler

Reporting directly to the Director, Construction and Engineering, this position is responsible for planning, critically evaluating and maintaining the overall Integrated Master Project Schedule (IMS) for the Eskay Creek revitalization project. As the project enters construction, the Planner/Scheduler will be involved in managing the IMS throughout the Capex period with input from Permitting, Regulatory, Environmental, Engineering and Construction.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Develop and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project.
  • Build schedule relationships between Permitting, Engineering, Construction and Operations activities to show critical path activities and impacts of changes to scope areas.
  • Develop and submit weekly and monthly reports that show schedule changes, variances to float, risks areas, opportunity areas and highlight areas that need focus from management.
  • Work with Construction and Operations team to integrate schedule updates, changes and forecasts into IMS.
  • Work with Permitting team to track permit timelines, specific activities and impacts to overall project schedule.
  • Work with Engineering team to track engineering deliverables, relationships to Operations, Permitting and Construction activities and relay changes to organization.
  • Present schedule updates to organization and highlight critical information and changes.
  • Closely integrate the IMS with project controls including cash flow forecasts, procurement tracking and change management.
  • Ensure IMS is properly resource loaded and highlight areas of over-resource and under-resource; develop leveling plans to ensure project can be constructed as planned.
  • Run ‘what-if' analysis' to outline how changes to activities will impact the overall project schedule.
  • Track and monitor project progress against the baseline schedule, identifying potential delays and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Work with the 3rd party stakeholders including suppliers, engineers and contractors to integrate their specific scopes into the IMS and assist Skeena management with driving adherence to timelines.
  • Build overall schedule rules, basis of schedule and relationship management document to communicate with Skeena teams on how the schedule functions.
  • Coordinate with project managers to allocate resources effectively, ensuring that labor, materials, and equipment are available as needed.
  • Review project drawings, execution plans, environmental plans, procurement timelines and contracts to gain a robust understanding of the project scope.
  • Ensure all scheduling activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track critical activities and keep Skeena management apprised of any issues related to the project scope.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years progressive experience in mining or industrial construction. Experience in mine development or mining capital projects is preferred.
  • 3+ years experience working directly with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project on master schedules or multiple project schedules.
  • 3+ years experience working for an EPCM or Owner in Project Controls.
  • Direct site experience is preferred.
  • Working with multiple stakeholders including regulatory, engineering, permitting, construction, procurement and operations in preferred.
  • PMP or PMI-SP certification is a plus.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and a solid understanding of scheduling techniques and methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong understanding of Change Management.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize while under pressure.
  • Able to work with multiple groups and drive input for schedule updates without prompt.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

This is an office based role , with occasional visits to site required. Additionally, the job is in a fast-paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities.
