OVERVIEW

At Miraterra, we believe that soil health is crucial for mitigating climate change, increasing biodiversity and ensuring food security. We are a cleantech company using novel sensor technology, machine learning, and computational chemistry to generate soil insight and give farmers and agronomists the power to improve their soil health through data-driven decisions. This is the purpose that unifies and drives us and we are looking for brilliant and kind people who can join us in this mission. Miraterra was spun out as a subsidiary of Terramera in December 2022.

YOUR ROLE AT MIRATERRA

Miraterra is fortunate to have some of the world's best minds from diverse industries working on solving one of the most significant problems facing our planet: the health of our soil. Our planet is losing topsoil at an alarming pace, which affects its ability to sequester carbon and feed our growing population. You can play a crucial role in reversing this trend by enabling our CEO to concentrate on his most important priorities.

As the Senior Executive Assistant to our CEO, you'll embrace an entrepreneurial mindset while providing confidential, sophisticated administrative support. Additionally, you will serve as the Office Operations Manager for Terramera, enabling our small team there to focus by ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the (primarily remote) office.

You will leverage your well-developed communication and organizational skills, ingenuity, initiative and integrity. Demonstrating good judgment, and exemplary speaking and writing skills is crucial as you will handle critical business information and build strong rapport with a wide range of employees, investors, and industry influencers.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Assistant liaises with board members for each board our CEO serves on, as well as investors, senior executives and colleagues across the organization and industry influencers around the world.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Engage a curious mindset to stay one step ahead of tasks and understand our down-to-earth CEO's position and influence.
  • Build and nurture relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the CEO, using your judgment and agility to keep written communications and an ever-changing calendar running smoothly, down to precise minutes.
  • Identify and implement creative solutions to remove barriers from our CEO's intense focus on strategic priorities.
  • Handle extensive travel arrangements including international travel—anticipate possible interruptions and secure solutions to minimize them.
  • Complete expense reporting and other administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Be flexible; although we offer standard working hours, you may need to be on call (phone, text or email) to handle urgent needs of our CEO. A “can do” mindset is essential.

As Office Operations Manager:

  • Identify, propose, and deliver solutions for business needs ranging from insurance to IT to human resources administration.
  • Address incoming communications for Terramera; use good judgment in proper distribution of incoming messages and responses.
  • Coordinate special events/meetings; manage logistics/attendee coordination for engaging/successful experiences.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Executive Assistant, 2 years as an Office Operations Manager, or similar level of combined experience
  • A strong record of creating clarity in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment by showing initiative and judgment while organizing, prioritizing, and defining and solving problems
  • Someone who enjoys being of service, attending to dozens of details to make sure things run smoothly
  • A genuine person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Someone with experience fostering an environment where people can be direct and authentic, with no need to swap favors or gossip to get what they need.
  • Technologically Adaptable: Quick to learn new tools and systems, and able to adapt to evolving technologies.

WE VALUE BUT DON'T REQUIRE:

  • An individual with experience managing a small office or serving as a versatile, multi-functional team member in a startup environment.
  • Experience with payroll, HR, or IT.

LOCATION

  • Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)
  • Most weeks require onsite presence at our office twice per week.

JOB TYPE

  • Full-time, Permanent
