As a new role to their organization, we are most focused on finding someone who shares their values and will be a great fit; we envision tailoring the role for an individual at the HR Generalist or HR Manager level.
The HR Professional will be responsible for leading and executing all human resources processes including full-cycle talent acquisition, employee onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, human resources administration, implementation, compliance of P&C standards and policies, and participating in the management of health, safety & wellness. In addition to these primary functions and in collaboration with the senior leadership team, applying best practice to develop, and sustain an exceptional workplace culture will be a key priority. As the successful candidate, you will be at the heart of their organization, shaping the employee experience and fostering a culture that empowers each team member to thrive. You'll be responsible for creating and implementing strategies that attract, develop, and retain top talent while nurturing a workplace environment that embodies their values and promotes inclusivity, respect, positivity, collaboration, and growth. With your expertise in human resources and passion for cultivating a positive organizational culture, you'll play a pivotal role in driving employee engagement, enhancing morale, and ultimately contributing to their overall success. As an HR consulting firm, our team at Potentia will support you from a mentorship and thought leadership perspective.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops and implements initiatives to foster a positive organizational culture and enhance employee engagement;
  • Administers employee compensation and benefits programs, including salary planning, compensation benchmarking and market analysis; bonus programs, and all components of the total rewards program;
  • Manages the full cycle talent acquisition cycle, including creating job descriptions, screening, and interviewing candidates, conducting background and reference checks, preparing employment agreements, as well as coordinating the onboarding and offboarding process;
  • Assesses training needs; develops training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge; coordinates and facilitates training sessions;
  • Collaborates with the management team and leads the creation and implementation of people and culture activities, events, and programs;
  • Develops and implements people and culture processes and procedures;
  • Advises and trains employees on P&C policies, procedures, and processes;
  • Coordinates WorkSafe BC, disability/leave, return to work, and wellness programs, ensuring compliance and employee well-being;
  • Lead OH&S initiatives that support and encourage employee well-being and work/life balance;
  • Manages all aspects of the administration and execution of the organization's extended health, RRSP, and other total rewards programs including enrolling & terminating employees in the benefits & RSP matching programs as applicable;
  • Manages employee records and other related documents such as insurance and RRSP plans, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations;
  • Drafts standard and non-standard correspondence & sends out communication announcements when appropriate (i.e., employment confirmation letters, leave letters, announcements related to promotions, transfers, etc.)
  • Manages and tracks employee absences (vacation, sick days, other leaves);
  • Assists in ad-hoc P&C projects;
  • Collaborates with the human resources consultant as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent;
  • 5+ years previous experience in a similar level role preferably supporting a professional services organization;
  • CPHR designation or enroute to completing;
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Proficiency in Adobe (for use primarily with PDFs), DocuSign, G-suite is considered an asset;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including word, Excel, and Outlook and HRIS software applications;
  • Knowledge of human resources processes, best practices, and employments legislation;
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask, stay organized and prioritize effectively;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a high level of professionalism, positivity, and discretion;
  • Pragmatic problem-solving skills;
  • Self-directed and able to work effectively independently and in a team setting;
  • Ability to manage sensitive information discreetly, ensuring ongoing confidentiality is maintained;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

This is a full-time in-office position (Monday to Friday 9:00-5:00pm with periodic overtime) that is accompanied by an excellent total compensation package. The base salary range for this position has been established at $75,000 to $90,000 per annum based on experience with full benefits as a part of the competitive total rewards package.
