Key Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Manage Beanworks, AP automation software, to ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Beanworks issues and support implementation of future modules, such as Expenses and Payments.
  • Support the Junior Financial Accountant with vendor management and communications and payment processing.
  • Monitor bank balances for business and personal accounts to ensure they are properly funded.
  • Support the Junior Financial Accountant with the monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare financial statements for various entities, including booking journal entries.
  • Support the Senior Financial Accountant with the preparation of quarterly management fees and chargebacks and investment entries and reconciliations.

Tax

  • Prepare monthly GSP/PST returns and remittances.
  • Assist with preparing tax returns (personal, corporate, partnership and trusts) and forms.
  • Assist with preparing estimated tax liabilities, where necessary.
  • Assist with preparation of documents and responses for tax audits and reviews.
  • Observe and note-take in meetings with tax advisers.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Assist with preparation of year-end documents for external tax preparers (both Canadian and US)
  • Periodic review of CRA online account for all family members and entities to ensure tax accounts/instalments are up-to-date and download all correspondence to hard drives.
  • Maintain tax folders.
  • Complete ad-hoc tax research, where necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma, preferably in accounting.
  • 1-2 years of full cycle accounting experience.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Sage 300 and Beanworks (or other AP automation software) is an asset.
  • Exceptional people skills (collaborator, problem solver).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multitask at the same time.
  • Perform with a high level of integrity and authenticity.
