Position Purpose:

Responsible for all aspects of departmental marketing operations. Develops and implements marketing and advertising campaigns; maintains promotional materials inventory; coordinates trade shows materials & set up; maintains active tracking and databases.

Assists with the development, delivery and co-ordination of a full range of communications strategies, programs, plans and services.

Provides graphic design services to the Community Services Department consistent with the corporate brand; providing expertise, technical guidance and creative solutions on the design of documents, print and online advertisements, business/marketing materials; reviewing and maintaining the photograph and image inventory, and identifying inventory needs

Develops and creates annual guide publications for the department and various supplementary marketing materials for key services of the department. For full details, please see attached job description.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year post-secondary education in marketing, graphic/creative design or relevant field of studies.
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in marketing and promotions preferably with a minimum of one year in a municipal environment.
  • A valid Class ‘G' driver's license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
  • Ability to work weekends and/or evenings as necessary to attend special events.

Position Summary

Responsibilities

Marketing Duties

  • Planning, implementing and monitoring digital marketing campaigns across all digital networks including LCD screens, rink boards etc.
  • Create and oversee all aspects of digital marketing including the ROC marketing database, email and advertising campaigns.
  • Manages and monitors the Community Services Department marketing and advertising budgets as per the direction of the Director and/or Managers.
  • Prepare reports on our marketing campaign's overall performance.
  • Coordinate with advertising and media experts to improve marketing results.
  • Ensure brand's influence locally while also increasing brand loyalty and awareness.
  • Researches current marketing trends and provides feedback and recommendations to the Managers and Director on marketing concepts that are most beneficial to the project and client satisfaction.
  • Evaluate important metrics that affect our website traffic, service quotas and target audience.
  • Work with team to brainstorm new and innovative growth strategies.
  • Oversee and manage all contests, giveaways and other digital projects.

  • Plan special events/trade shows by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements; establishing contacts; developing schedules and assignments; coordinating mailing lists and attend if necessary.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, workshops and seminars.
  • Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing tasks as needed.
  • Present ROC winter seasonal staff with an overview of ROC promotions, branding and customer service.
  • Website content updates to ROC and Community Services pages, Intranet and facility promotional boards.
  • Customer and client relations.
  • Survey research.
  • Obtain quotes on advertising material and supplies (i.e. swag, signage, etc.) and reports results to respective managers or director.
  • Attend meetings and participates on committee as requested by respective managers and director.
  • Process and manage for donation requests for the ROC and recreation programs.
  • Prepares and maintains Stakeholder Resource Database in respect to special events and marketing initiatives (i.e. sponsors, products, participants, media, etc.)

Communications Duties

  • Identify and gather content for social media for events and programming for Recreation & Culture and provide schedule to Communications Division for Town social media platforms.
  • Create, plan and manage ROC social media platforms.
  • Create social media strategies to develop objectives and goals. Align social marketing with traditional marketing. Profile target audience. Develop social medial plans and determine the most effective platform for event/scenario.
  • Maintains and updates the ROC website (microsite) and various Recreation & Culture webpages.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of advertising and promotional campaigns, and special events using various communication tools to maximize exposure.
  • Distributes promotional materials and reviews media release content provide from Communications Division.
  • Creates, monitors, and edits social media advertising tools and contests

Graphic Design Duties

  • Communicating with colleagues about layout and design.
  • Overseeing graphic design content and advertising deadlines.
  • Maintain image inventory and identify inventory needs
  • Creates/produces graphics (for print, web and social media) for the Community Services Department including but not limited to materials such as program guides, online material, brochures, flyers, presentations, invitations, and other marketing/advertising materials that enhance the Corporate brand.
  • Coordinating with outside agencies, art services, web designer, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary.
  • Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for poster, flyers, brochures and signage with software such as Adobe Illustrator, In-Design and Photoshop.
  • Reviewing final layouts and suggesting improvements when necessary.
  • Creates, designs, edits and formats all Recreation and Culture Department's print promotional materials (i.e. Activity Guide, Stephen Leacock Theatre Brochure, Municipal Guide, The ROC Brochures, Gymnasium Brochures, and drafts materials for general advertising for review by management team).
  • Creates signage for various promotional needs (i.e. facility signage, event banners, menus, way finding, special event display, etc.).
  • Coordinates photography of facilities and programs to use in displays, programs and guides;
  • Participates in the Town's Health and Safety Program and follows safety practices in work methods and procedures. Observes and complies with all relevant health and safety regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year post-secondary education in marketing, graphic/creative design or relevant field of studies.
  • Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in marketing and promotions preferably with a minimum of one year in a municipal environment.
  • Knowledge of Recreation and Culture programs (ActiveNet) and events.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skill and efficiency required in the use of Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and MS Office and other associated software including various social network media programs.
  • Valid Class ‘G' Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle to use regularly on corporate business.
  • Ability to work weekends and/or evenings as necessary to attend special events.
  • Up to one year period of adjustment, orientation and adaptation on the job.
