BGC Okanagan is excited to be delivering a new residential program for vulnerable youth. Penny Lane is now a Low Barrier Short Term Stabilization Home.

The program is purposefully designed with a double staffing model, mental health and behavioral supports in place to help vulnerable youth become more stable so they can succeed in the future. The program has 3 beds and youth stay in the program for anywhere from a few weeks to 9 months. The program is very collaborative; working together with each youth and their Circle of Care to create trauma informed, culturally appropriate, strengths focused and person-centered service plans. We offer recreation outings, support navigating resources in the community, engagement with family & other supports – all out of a comfortable home setting. Our goal is to overcome gaps in the system by ensuring that youth in our resource have every opportunity to overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop their confidence and skills for life.

The Program Coordinator works closely with the youth and their care team to support the youth while they work towards goals. BGC Okanagan employees a diverse and supportive youth services team that the Program Coordinator will have the opportunity to regularly collaborate with. The Program Coordinator oversees the day – to – day operations of the home, provides ongoing supervision, training and recruitment of staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and develops program in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Formulates program procedures and evaluates the program in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements.
  • Supervises program staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback on performance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Participates in recruitment and selection of program staff by performing duties such as screening applicants, participating on interview panels, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Schedules program staff in accordance to program staffing requirements.
  • Orients, determines the need for and provides training to program staff, volunteers and practicum students.
  • Monitors and authorizes program expenditures and maintains financial records in accordance with established procedures. Prepare the program budget for submission and presentation to senior management.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in a related human/social service field, three (3) years recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory or administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Class 5 Drivers License
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain.
  • Successful completion of Agency Screening Process including a criminal record check

This position requires membership in the BCGEU.

Hours: 35 hours a week, Tuesday & Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm & Thursday & Friday 2:00pm-10:00pm, Saturday 9am-5:00pm

Rate of Pay: $33.77 per hour plus benefits.
