THE OPPORTUNITY
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (“Triton”) is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Technician and Environmental Monitor Professionals to join a well-established team of environmental professionals based out of our Terrace, BC, and Prince Rupert BC office.
This position will appeal to individuals with a passion for working outdoors and who thrive in a construction environment. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world class projects that balance environmental protection with development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Monitoring construction work activities as they relate to environmental protection, including implementation of environmental protection plans
  • Monitoring and collecting water quality samples in both freshwater and marine environments
  • Supporting pre-construction bird nest sweeps, and fish and amphibian salvage programs
  • Preparing daily and weekly summary reports
  • Attending project and safety meetings
  • Promoting safety culture and complying with safety protocols
  • Liaising with clients, regulators, and contractors
  • Working collaboratively within Triton corporate culture

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates will possess the following skills, traits, and qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education (degree, diploma, and/or certificate) in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or related program
  • Minimum of one year of experience as an environmental technician or monitor
  • Registration with a professional regulatory body is an asset
  • Experience in fish salvage, water quality monitoring, pre-construction bird sweeps, and amphibian salvage an asset
  • Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipment
  • Ability to identify and mitigate issues rapidly to ensure compliance within an active construction work environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, regulators, and co-workers
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Willing to work on a 2-week work rotation
  • Valid driver's license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

COMPENSATON
The compensation range for this position is $24 – 35 per hour, dependent on candidate qualifications and years of experience.
