DESCRIPTION
The Quality Coordinator is responsible for implementing the Quality Management Program on the project. This position will apply Quality Controls in accordance with project specifications to meet the clients' requirements. Possessing strong communication skills, attention to detail, inspection skills and effective time management skills is essential. Critical for success is working independently and having strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment. This position will be based out of our project office located in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Stop work in the area of an identified health or safety problem until resolved.
  • Create and ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITP's) are in compliance with project requirements.
  • Promote a fiscally responsible, professional culture and work with internal and external shareholders to maintain financial confidentiality and establish trust.
  • Work closely with project teams to develop and implement the quality system to ensure thorough understanding of the scope and schedule.
  • Coordinate all quality control team members, prepare work schedules, assign specific duties, lead audits on subcontractor activities and implement CARs and NCRs from audit findings in collaboration with the Project Team.
  • Analyze operations to evaluate the performance of a company and its staff, including its subcontractors, in meeting objectives and determining potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change areas.
  • Ensure work is performed to established technical requirements defined by project documentation, including drawings, specifications, procedures, inspection & test plans, and scope of work.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
  • Uphold company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada's Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree or diploma in a related field i.e., architectural, structural, construction or engineering technology.
  • 5 years' experience in heavy construction projects.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team.
  • Firm knowledge of construction codes and standards, such as CSA, ISO, ASME, API, AWWA and others, related to the project.

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge and experience working with CSA Z662 and AWWA.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
  • Certified CWB W178.2 Welding Inspector Level 1 or 2 or equivalent is an asset.
  • NACE CIP Level 2 or 3 is an asset.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel, word, outlook), Bluebeam and related software.
  • Knowledge of NCR, Corrective and Preventative Actions.
LANGUAGES
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
