About the Role
The Site Supervisor role at the Sarnia Lagoon Storage Site is best suited to someone with a hands-on approach to leadership. As a Site Supervisor, you'll be at the forefront of managing the site's day-to-day operations, requiring a blend of technical know-how and effective communication skills.
Your primary responsibilities will revolve around overseeing schedules, allocating resources, and ensuring equipment maintenance to keep operations running smoothly. Safety is paramount, and you'll play a crucial role in enforcing safety protocols and ensuring regulatory compliance to ensure a safe working environment for all.
Beyond operational tasks, environmental stewardship is a core aspect of the role. You'll be tasked with monitoring lagoon conditions, recording samples and air quality, and implementing procedures to minimize the environmental impact of the site.
This role offers a dynamic work environment, with a significant portion of your time spent outdoors actively engaging in field operations alongside your team. There is a seasonal aspect to our lagoon operations, so flexibility in work hours is often necessary. This may include extended hours during peak operational periods or when addressing unexpected challenges.
If you thrive in hands-on roles and are eager to take on leadership responsibilities, this is an opportunity to leverage your skills and make a tangible impact on operational efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability.
About You
  • 1-3 years supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills to lead effectively and coordinate team members on site.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage and facilitate effective information flow between team members, stakeholders, and management. The ability to communicate clearly and assertively is crucial.
  • Problem-solving skills to address operational challenges, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions in real-time.
  • A commitment to safety awareness and the ability to enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for the team.
  • Good organizational skills for maintaining accurate records of sampling and air quality activities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions, weather, and unexpected challenges.
  • Familiarity with the Environmental Protection Act, or an agricultural background are assets.
