Primoris Canada is an infrastructure contractor serving major firms in the oil, gas, power, petrochemical, and heavy oil industries and include services covering tailings and hydro-transport pipeline construction and maintenance, storage tank construction and maintenance, industrial facilities multi-discipline construction and maintenance, piping fabrication, and pipeline integrity services.

SUMMARY

The Assistant Purchasing Specialist is a Co-op Student position responsible for assisting the Purchasing Department team members in the sourcing of small tools and consumables for various operational groups. They are also responsible for ensuring invoices are processed promptly and assisting Senior Purchasing staff in other tasks as required.

Anticipated Start Date: September 3, 2024

Work Location: Acheson, AB (Corporate Office)

JOB DUTIES

  • Receive/review requisitions and request clarification as required
  • Place orders for requested materials with established vendors
  • Source supply for regular small tools and consumables
  • Issue purchase and change orders as necessary within the company standard ERP software Vista
  • Maintain consistent and accurate purchase and price records
  • Ensure the purchase of all goods and services comply with company policy, procedure, and guidelines
  • Ensure goods are purchased at the lowest total cost, in specified quantity and quality, within specified lead-time
  • Follow and expedite procurement through delivery of the product or services
  • Maintain communication with operations in respect to lead-time on critical materials
  • Review invoices with accounts payable where the price or terms don't agree with the purchase order as required. Ensure disputes are resolved in a timely manner. Escalate disputes if required to senior level staff
  • Assist the purchasing team in the project/work order closeout process
  • Various other duties as requested by management and senior purchasing members

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Active pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Commerce
