Due to continued growth we have an opening for an experienced Bolted Tank Construction Foreman to join our team. The Foreman plays a crucial role in overseeing construction projects, ensuring the projects are completed safely, on time and within budget. Reporting the Construction Manager, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading a crew of 4-6 construction technicians
- Supervising job specific sites throughout Canada
- Ensure workers adhere to safety policies
- Completing daily, weekly and monthly inspections and reports.
- Reviewing and making recommendations for site safety, including assisting to keep the site clean, free from debris, reporting any hazards and ensuring appropriate protective equipment is worn and maintained.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule
- Reviewing and ensuring quality standards on project
- Coordinating tasks according to priorities and plans
- Daily and weekly planning and scheduling of work activities
- Allocating general and daily responsibilities
- Providing regular feedback to employees on performance
- Supervising and training workers
- Working directly with Project Managers to ensure manpower and resources are adequate for the project. This can include coordinating rental equipment, dumpsters etc.
- Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
- Contributing to an accident-free work environment by enforcing operator's instructions for the proper use of power tools and equipment.
- Promote preventative maintenance as a strategy in maintaining construction tools and equipment. Monitor the preventative maintenance program by keeping accurate records on all equipment and ensure required maintenance is performed.
- Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
- Work with the Project Manager to ensure project expenditures are within the project budget
- Report progress to Management
- Resolve problems are they arise
The Construction Foreman is a working Foreman, approximately 50% of the daily job duties consists of performing the work.
Skills & Qualifications:
- 3-5 year's Supervisory/Foreman experience in the bolted tank construction industry
- Solid understanding of construction trade, materials and processes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proven ability to interact effectively with Engineers, Contractors and Owners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work well under pressure
- Proven Leadership abilities
- Possess good decision making, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Valid Class G driver's license, Valid Class A license considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently while remaining an integral part of a remote project management team. Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment and safety guidelines
- Above average organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to interact with Engineers, Municipal Officials and direct Industrial Customers.
- Proficient computer skills, working knowledge of MS Office Suite required.
- Strong technical abilities
- Flexible to travel for extended periods of time
- A demonstrated ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, and effectively prioritizing multiple responsibilities.
- Detail oriented, and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Experience operating hand tools
- Forklift training, confined space and Fall arrest experience ideal.
- Previous experience in bolted or welded steel tank building considered an asset
- Previous site management experience in Municipal & Industrial Water and Wastewater markets is preferred.
