Job Title: Environmental Floor Attendant
Reports to: Environmental Services Manager
Location: Villa Marguerite - Park Place Seniors Living
This is a AUPE Unionized Casual Position
JOB SUMMARY:
As a valued interdisciplinary team member as an Environmental Floor Attendant, under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager, performs floor management duties, including the cleaning of Common Areas, washrooms, Staffrooms, Offices and other areas as assigned. Follows all relevant Park Place policies including infection prevention and control and WHMIS. Treats Residents with dignity and demonstrates an attitude of caring.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Vacuums, dry mop and wet mops all floors.
  2. Cleans bathroom, commodes, and other equipment as assigned.
  3. Performs daily, routine and terminal cleaning of resident rooms including disinfecting beds and turning/flipping mattresses, cleaning of windows and blinds/curtains.
  4. Ensures housekeeping equipment is clean and reports any equipment needing repair to the Director of Environmental Services and/or Maintenance.
  5. Understand and follows PPSL Infection Prevention and Control policies and procedures and Universal Precautions in handling body fluids.
  6. Identifies and reports risks to ensure the safety of Residents, Visitors and Staff.
  7. Participates in education sessions and Staff meetings.
  8. Maintains a safe environment for Residents, significant others and Staff by adhering to established safety policies, standards and procedures including emergency procedures and infection control guidelines. Reports unsafe conditions and malfunctioning equipment to the Maintenance Staff via a Work Order.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Floor management experience a must.
  • Clear criminal record security clearance with Vulnerable Sector included (no more than 6 months old)
  • Must be physically fit to perform lifting and transferring and able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Appropriately dressed
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in the English language
  • Must be able to work independently, and as part of the interdisciplinary team
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible to read, understand and comply with PPSL's and provincially-mandated Occupational Health and Safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Involved in all aspects of the Health and Safety Program including:
    • Uses safe work procedures,
    • Promotes health and safety policy and awareness,
    • Makes safety suggestions.
    • Reads OHS minutes posted.
  • Responsible to take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of residents, self, other workers and the general public.
  • Reports any near miss, injury, accident or equipment damage to supervisor immediately and completes required reports.
  • Corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions.
  • Sets a good example.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job requires a significant amount of lifting, bending, walking, sitting and standing. Lifting 50-lbs. maximum. More frequent lifting of 20 lbs. or less. A regular day may involve four (4) hours of walking and frequent bending or crouching.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
