THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking to fill the full-time position of Fire Alarm Monitoring Technician at our Port Coquitlam branch.

Responsibilities of the Fire Alarm Monitoring Technician include:

  • Perform fire alarm monitoring installations including wiring, programming, and mounting of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair installation issues.
  • Attend Service Call outs as necessary.
  • Train clients and ensure proper functionality of all systems in use.
  • Establishing new security systems or updating existing ones in order to comply with industry standards Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, servicing, or monitoring fire alarm systems.
  • Training personnel on the use of security systems, such as how to operate alarm panels or handle emergency situations.
  • Able to execute all work in accordance with provincial and local regulations, demonstrate and maintain full compliance with the company expectations for general best practices as well as adherence to the company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for daily reporting.
  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with clients.
  • Follow department guidelines and metrics as advised to achieve company strategic goals.
  • Adhere to and promote the companies core values, processes, policies and Occupational Health and Safety protocols.
  • Additional duties as they may arise.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate would have the following strengths and experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5yrs experience with planning, installing, and troubleshooting fire monitoring systems.
  • Experience in project planning, installing & troubleshooting fire monitoring systems.
  • Experience in pulling & fishing cable through walls, drop ceilings & conduit as well as terminating all types of cable ends.
  • Experience in use of test equipment such as multi-meter and tone generator
  • Knowledge of current CAN/ULC-S561 standards for installation and servicing of fire signal systems a must.
  • Ability to work evening and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to work on ladders, qualified to operate scissor and boom lifts
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs for extended periods of time in a fast-paced repetitive work environment. Ability to stand on your feet for entire shifts- bending, leaning crouching, and walking
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Resourceful nature; able to proactively problem-solve and navigate various priorities
  • Must have excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license (clean drivers abstract required) and forklift license
  • Valid security license is an asset
