POSITION OVERVIEW:
One (1) permanent full time Manager, Laboratory Services position is available at Wellington Health Care Alliance.

The Wellington Health Care Alliance includes Groves Memorial Community Hospital as well as North Wellington Health Care (Louise Marshall Hospital and Palmerston and District Hospital). Travel is required amongst the three hospital sites and therefore a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required.

This position is a non-unionized position.

Position Summary:

The Manager, Laboratory Services – WHCA is responsible for the daily management of all resources of the laboratories of the three (3) sites of the WHCA in accordance with the directives of InterHospital Laboratory Partnership (IHLP) and hospital administration. This position is also responsible for the effective interactions of the WHCA Laboratories within the IHLP.

You will:

  • Ensure quality patient care and competent safe practice
  • Coordinate staffing levels
  • Review workload measurement trends and address workload concerns
  • Assess, evaluate, and act as a resource regarding staff development
  • Identify educational needs and provide/arrange in-services and direct/develop educational packages
  • Manage employee relations through knowledge of Collective Agreements and corporate policies and procedures
  • Develop/update policies and procedures as required
  • Demonstrate current knowledge of budget management, utilize management and fiscal accountability
  • As a dynamic leader, demonstrate creativity, flexibility, and innovation; and promote effective team building and facilitate staff professional development through promotion of standards of practice and ongoing learning
  • Promote the Mission, Vision and Values, Code of Conduct, the Strategic Plan of the organization, and the goals and objectives of the organization and their department

You have:

  • Current registration with, or are eligible for registration with, the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • A Health Management Diploma and/or Degree is an asset
  • A Diploma from a Clinical Quality Manager Program is an asset
  • A Bachelor's degree or Advanced certification (ART) in General Laboratory an asset
  • 7-10 years of current progressive Professional experience
  • 5-7 years of current progressive Management experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership and team building skills
  • Exceptional clinical skills in the Laboratory
  • Demonstrated commitment to person centered care and an interprofessional practice model of care
  • Proven management skills including financial, human resources, quality improvement, change management, evaluation, planning, organizational, utilization and time management skills
  • Well developed mutual gain negotiation and conflict management resolution skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills necessary to gather and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Additional Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired

Salary: $58.02 - $67.87 per hour
