One of our manufacturing clients is looking for a 2nd Class Power Engineer at Altona, MB location for their facility.
Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain boilers, steam turbines, and associated equipment to generate power and steam for heating or industrial processes.
Monitor and control the operation of auxiliary equipment such as pumps, compressors, and cooling towers to maintain optimal system performance.
Conduct routine inspections and tests to ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and prevent accidents.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components to prolong equipment lifespan.
Keep accurate records of equipment performance, maintenance activities, and inventory levels of spare parts and supplies.
Collaborate with other engineering and maintenance staff to optimize system performance and implement efficiency improvements.
Respond to emergency situations, such as equipment failures or power outages, by taking appropriate action to restore operations safely and quickly.
Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting power generation and distribution systems.
Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge of best practices in power engineering.
Requirements:
Valid 2nd Class Power Engineer certification or equivalent license from a recognized regulatory authority.
Extensive knowledge of power plant operations, including boilers, steam turbines, and electrical systems.
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to troubleshoot equipment problems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks such as climbing ladders, lifting heavy objects, and working in confined spaces.
Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders.
