Full Time, Temporary: 10 weeks (Canada Summer Jobs)

We're looking for a mission-driven Development officer, Fundraising ( who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB
  • Event Logistics Management: Work alongside the Senior Manager, Philanthropy and Campaign and Event Planner on logistical aspects such as venue setup, coordinating with vendors, managing timelines, and overseeing the smooth execution of events.
  • Sponsorship Acquisition: Assist in researching and identifying potential sponsors, drafting sponsorship proposals, and supporting communication to secure financial or in-kind support for events.
  • In-Kind Donation Procurement: Reach out to businesses and individuals for in-kind donations like products, services, or experiences suitable for raffles and auctions, ensuring a diverse range of attractive offerings.
  • Raffle and Auction Coordination: Organize and manage the logistics of raffles and auctions, including item display, bid tracking, and winner coordination during events.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in maintaining records of sponsorships, donations, and event expenses, generating reports to track progress and outcomes.
  • Creative Development: Contribute to creative ideas for fundraising initiatives, or unique ways to engage sponsors and donors.
  • Post-Event Analysis: Participate in post-event assessments, gathering feedback from attendees, sponsors, and donors to improve future fundraising endeavors.

Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications

  • Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience in Fundraising, Sales, Event Management, Event Planning, and people management.
  • Strong competencies in Windows environment and with Microsoft Office software, including (but not limited to) Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong skills with design software, primarily Canva.
  • Experience coordinating events and/or a fundraising committee is considered an asset.
  • Aptitude for planning and analysis with strong project management skills.
  • Adheres to applicable privacy laws as well as AFP, CAGP and CNIB standards of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional organizational and administrative skills with a focus on efficiency.
  • Professional and positive attitude, results-oriented, strategic, and flexible.
  • Ability to provide strategic solutions to complicated and difficult problems utilizing excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated success in proposal and stewardship development.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and evaluate information, as well as make recommendations.
  • Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills; proactive in initiating multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Occasional travel is required.
  • Driver's license and access to a vehicle is require.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs initiative, individuals must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizens, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
