Job Description
The Support Aide provides the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership to ensure the provision of one on one care to assigned child or children in the centre, in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the program, with the philosophy and policies of 1st Class and in strict compliance with Alberta Childcare Licensing Act.
The Childcare Support Aid reports to the Executive Director and Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work specifically with child or children requiring additional support, and provide general assistance as part of the Team
- Contributes ideas based on thoughtful and insightful knowledge of the towards planning for children with additional needs.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships and regular communication with parents.
- Establish and carry out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child directed activity, care routines, and transition times.
- Supervise Child in structured (classroom) and unstructured (free play, hallways, lunch hour etc.) settings.Ensures that appropriate supervision all the time.
- Supports Child to be included in programming and activities.
- Support Child with physical and personal care needs.
- Help prepare materials and assist in other duties as required by Executive Director and Management.

Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of a Level 1 - Early Childhood Educator Certificate (or able to complete within 2 months of hire)
- Must have a flexible schedule and be available for all hours that the program is open and be available to cover shifts within the program.
- Must have up to date Police Clearance (or be able to complete immediately upon hire).
- Must have valid CPR and First Aid Certificate (or be able to complete upon hire.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Fast paced environment.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to walk, bend, stand, squat or crouch to child's level.
- Able to physical respond quickly in an emergency.
- Part-time hours: up to 25 - 30hrs and Possibility of full time hours between 37 - 40hrs
