Breakfast/ General Cleaning Attendant

The Holiday Inn Express - Whitby hotel is currently recruiting for a Breakfast/ General Cleaning Attendant.

The Breakfast/General Cleaning Attendant performs routine duties in the execution of breakfast and cleaning of hotel public areas as well as maintain necessary inventories. The Breakfast/General Cleaning Attendant is expected to promote a positive image of the property to guests and must be pleasant, honest, friendly and able to address guest requests and problems.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the Breakfast/ General Cleaning Attendant is responsible for:

  • Abides by work schedules and signs in/out accordingly, while in uniform

  • Maintains a clean uniform and is presentable

  • Sets up Breakfast Buffet per the established hotel and IHG brand standards by scheduled time

  • Monitors and replenishes buffet in a timely manner to ensure all items are adequately available at all times

  • Ensures all hot items are served hot and cold items served chilled

  • Ensures that during breakfast times the buffet and coffee station is cleaned frequently to maintain neat presentation

  • Cleans tables and chairs promptly once guests vacate to quickly turn over for next guests and maintain a clean environment

  • Engaging with guests, anticipating their needs, encouraging positive reviews and promptly reporting any negative feedback to the appropriate management

  • Maintaining suitable stock of breakfast items based on hotel occupancy, placing required orders on time and properly storing upon receiving order

  • Conduct monthly inventories on the last day of last day of each month and submit to GM

  • Complete a thorough daily clean of the breakfast room, pantry and public areas (includes entry vestibule, lobby, fitness room, public rest rooms, elevator and foyer, first floor hallways), replenishing stocked items as required

  • Follow IHG Way of Clean process when cleaning all areas using the hotel issued cleaning supplies

  • Return all equipment and supplies to designated areas ensuring that hazardous materials are not left unattended in public areas

  • Signs out required Master Key per Hotels operating procedures

  • Promptly reports all maintenance deficiencies in working area to Front Desk for proper documentation and follow through

  • Ensure safety and privacy of guests at all times

  • Perform rotation cleaning duties in public area and breakfast room (e.g. deep clean, daily focus cleaning, etc.) as requested

  • Responsible for the Hotel property in working areas

  • Attends to guest calls, guest requests /guest complaints in assigned area

  • Responsible for following the Hotels standard operating procedures

  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding guest satisfaction scores

What We are Looking for...

  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to work safely with a variety of cleaning chemicals;
  • Ability to be a team player while also working independently;
  • Must be available to work all shifts including every weekend and at times on short notice;
