Job Summary

Full-time: 37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Hybrid - Ottawa Home/Larus Ottawa Office(170 Laurier Ave West, Suite 310, Ottawa, ON K1P 5V5)
Reporting To: Technology Director

We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join Larus as a Senior Front End Developer. Larus has developed end-to-end solutions for the security and commercial sectors market. Through Larus's leading-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities, Larus has developed a portfolio of AI/ML tools to augment analysts. This is an exciting opportunity to work on building intuitive user-driven interfaces to convey and capture complex information.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and tests of front-end applications for production software;
• Engage with front-end users to learn how to improve their user experience;
• Engage with junior front-end developers through code reviews and mentoring;
• Advocate high-quality and best practices in software design and development;
• Closely interact with other team members on system integration and validation;
• Record and document work;
• Meet sprint goals with the team and release deliverables to stakeholders and customers; and
• Other duties as assigned.

Expected qualifications include:

• College or University degree with a focus on software development with a UI/UX specialization;
• 5+ years of direct experience in the design, development, deployment, and verification of front-end systems in production;
• Passion for learning and solving complex problems;
• Strong communication skills;
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment;
• Organized and focused; and
• Able to obtain a Canadian Government security clearance (typically requires the candidate to be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada). 
  

Technical Skill Requirements, working knowledge of:

• User-centered UI/UX design principles;
• Typescript and JavaScript;
• Knowledge of web and user interface libraries (e.g. ReactJS or equivalent);
• Source control-based system (e.g., Git); and
• Unit and smoke testing. (e.g. Jest).
• Experience with wireframing (e.g. Balsamiq)
  

Preferred Technical Skills:

• Backend Systems;
• Cloud Infrastructure (e.g., GCP, Azure);
• Distributed Computing (e.g., Docker);
• Knowledge of Python Backend (Flask framework);
• Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment Systems (e.g., Azure DevOps).
