Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to fulfill a position within the engineering department which will meet the supply and demand of Liftsafe Engineering and Service Group Inc. As outlined in this job description, the expectation is for the duties, responsibilities, and qualifications to be efficiently performed and for this individual to contribute to the overall growth of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, modeling, and drafting for custom industrial equipment & structures.
  • Design analysis (via calculation and simulation) to ensure appropriateness of design.
  • Ensure design for manufacturability for both in-house and external facilities.
  • Review designs by junior peers.
  • Site visits for design verification as required.
  • Professional Seal (where applicable) of engineering documentation as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • Assist in plan and spec analysis to provide clear, track-able and coordinated interpretations of the design/drawings for fabrication
  • Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences, and errors/omissions
  • Act as liaison with Customers in expediting drawings and related information
  • Assist the Engineering Manager, where applicable, in the day-to-day duties of various project's administration
  • Conduct field site walks with customer / building representatives and lead installer to determine construction requirements.
  • Maintain and update the Shop Drawing Log, review Shop Drawings and submittals
  • Obtain quotes, if needed and procure all buy/sell items as generated by the BOM
  • Assist with the research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues
  • Preparation of engineering and project reports based on results delivered by field inspection teams
  • Prepare drawings and sketches to support fabrication work as required.
  • Understand and perform document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures, including tracking and creating of projects
  • Attend project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested or required
  • Present oneself as a candidate for promotion by learning and understanding construction methods and developing good construction management skills
  • Monitor quality and cost control throughout each project
  • Perform additional assignments and responsibilities as assumed or requested by supervision

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training plus a minimum of 3 to 5 years engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings, and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline
  • Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others Proficiency in department's computer system, department software, and typing necessary
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner to the Owner, Architect, related project staff and the community
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on communication skills (verbal / written)
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking and documentation skills
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Proven problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Software proficiencies depending on assignment – Excel, AutoCAD, Inventor, MS Project, email, and others as required
