The Role

We are currently recruiting an experienced Scheduler/Project Controls Analyst to support a large project in Fort Saskatchewan, AB for our client Dow Chemical. This role will work mostly on site, Monday to Friday, 10 hours per day, 6:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Compensation/Benefits

  • Can hire as a direct employee or as a *Direct Service Provider/Sub Contractor.
  • Competitive hourly wage. Negotiable, based on experience.

The Project

Dow Chemical Canada is taking initiatives to increase production capacity and reduce carbon emissions as part of its sustainability goals. In this context, Dow has initiated the FS PATH2ZERO Program to decarbonize and grow production ~3MM mta of low to zero carbon emissions C2 derivatives at its Fort Saskatchewan facilities in Canada. The overall program includes an ethylene plant, derivative plants (five world scale polyethylene units) and their associated decarbonization scope. These assets are targeted to startup in the latter half of 2027 for the Program Phase 1 and in 2029 for the Program Phase 2.
This contract for OCL would be the early works and block grading preparation for the construction of the new units as highlighted below:

  • Civil Site prep for the multiple blocks (stripping/grading)
  • Final grading/aggregate and paving placement
  • Site improvement; stormwater ditching and pond upgrades, parking lot expansions
  • Railway crossings
  • Underground piping & utilities
  • Electrical tie in's, undergrounds and grounding
  • High mast lighting foundations and install
  • Minor concrete works


Job Duties and Responsibilities
Scheduling

Working with the project management team, the construction scheduler's key responsibility will be to:

  • create and maintain project schedules for multi-faceted pipeline construction work fronts,
  • Provide ongoing updates to project schedules with resource loading and cost information,
  • Evaluate construction progress, against schedule and provide regular updates,
  • Identify any potential problems in the schedule and make appropriate recommendations to the project management team as required,
  • Analyze monthly project schedules and prepare reports as required.

Project Controls Analyst

  • Implementation of company project controls program, procedures, and standards,
  • Overall accountable for project control documentation creation, updates and accuracy,
  • Provide monthly revenue and cost accruals to support project accounting requirements,
  • Collaborates with the Project Manager to adjust and accurately report forecasted costs,
  • Manages the commercial aspect of the portfolio's change management process;
  • Provides direction to Project Coordinators for daily, weekly, monthly data capture requirements,
  • Manages the portfolio's earned value logs and updates the Project Manager on deviances from budgets,
  • Responsible for external performance reporting to the client,
  • Reporting of KPIs for projects and the overall portfolio,
  • Provides input to the PMT during the creation of estimates for new projects,
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment,
  • Support for schedule development and weekly progress updates,
  • Completion, documentation and timely distribution of all project-related correspondence, records and reports,
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all project stakeholders,
  • Provide direction and mentoring to Project Coordinators and Project Administrators on project controls requirements.

Education/Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a Scheduler/Project Controls Analyst required.
  • A demonstrated background in construction scheduling is required.
  • Proficient in Primavera (P6) with the ability to resource load, manpower curve and complete critical path analysis.
  • EIT, CET, PMI or PMP designations/certification or post-secondary education in project management training is preferred.
  • Experience in heavy civil or industrial mechanical construction is required.
  • Must be able to read and interpret construction and engineered drawings.
  • Competent user in Word, Excel, Project, Outlook and Google Suite
  • Must be able to get to and work onsite at DOW in Fort SK with the construction management team.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol test required.
  • CSTS 2020 Fundamentals required.
