Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Pipeline Straw Hand with experience in erosion control, dirt work, and remediation to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing erosion control measures along pipeline routes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and minimizing soil erosion risks.
Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain erosion control measures such as straw wattles, erosion control blankets, and sediment barriers along pipeline corridors.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess erosion control effectiveness and identify areas requiring maintenance or improvement.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and environmental specialists to develop erosion control plans tailored to project requirements and environmental conditions.
- Monitor weather forecasts and adjust erosion control measures as necessary to mitigate risks during adverse weather conditions.
- Train and supervise labor crews in proper installation techniques and safety procedures related to erosion control.
- Maintain accurate records of erosion control activities, including documentation of installation dates, maintenance activities, and compliance inspections.
- Remediate ground contours to meet specifications laid out by the client as necassary
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a straw hand or in a similar role within the construction or environmental industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of erosion control techniques and best practices, including experience with straw wattle installation, erosion control blanket deployment, and sediment barrier construction.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting requirements related to erosion control in construction projects.
- Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments and adapt to varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to project sites.
- Tickets required: H2S alive, Whmis, First Aid, Csts 2020, Ground Disturbance 2 (Supervisor)
- Ability to operate equipment such as excavator, dozer, skid steer, and packer is an asset
