UGE develops, owns, and operates community and commercial solar and energy storage projects, primarily in the United States. With over a decade of experience in the industry, we are on the front lines, working to accelerate the transition to clean, reliable energy.

UGE is growing quickly, and we are excited to be seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our Finance team as a Finance Associate I.

The Finance Associate I is a key member of the Finance team. The role has responsibility for various accounting, analysis, and general reporting tasks, and works closely with the Corporate Controller. Since we are a small, growing public company, the ideal candidate will be an organized, detail-oriented self-starter who has had exposure to all aspects of the accounting cycle and who is ready to take ownership of diverse responsibilities in a growing and changing environment.

Reporting Relationships

The Finance Associate I will report to the Corporate Controller.

Accountabilities

  • Oversight of full accounts payable function for the business unit and its subsidiaries, including matching, posting vendor invoices, reconciling vendor statements, obtaining appropriate approvals, and payment processing in a timely manner.
  • Oversight of full accounts receivable for the business unit and its subsidiaries, including generating customer invoices, processing payments received, and following up on overdue invoices.
  • General banking transactions, bank reconciliations, assistance with weekly cash flow forecast preparation in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment, review and posting employee expense reports.
  • Month end entries and reconciliations.
  • Preparation of individual entity monthly and/or quarterly financial statements, including account reconciliation, variance analysis, and comparison of actuals to budget.
  • Preparation of disclosure schedules for internal use and as required to assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Reconciliation and analysis of project revenue and cost estimates to actuals.
  • Reconciliation of Intercompany accounts and quarterly billing.
  • Assistance with annual external audit and quarterly reviews.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 -5 years experience in accounting and reporting functions, with increasing responsibilities and independence
  • Experience with managing competing priorities in a changing environment - previous experience at small entrepreneurial companies a plus
  • Excellent Excel and organizational skills
  • An understanding of internal controls and their importance within the Finance function and the overall organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including email communication
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Business/Accounting or experience equivalent
  • Enrollment in CPA program preferred
