LaPrairie Works is a diversified and growing transportation specialist. We come with over 40 years of operating experience in Western Canada, and our core business areas include highway maintenance, on and off highway hauling, oilfield services, mine contracting and site services.

We are looking to hire an experienced Heavy-Duty Service Truck Mechanic to join our growing team in Grimshaw, Alberta.

As a Service Truck Mechanic, you will inspect, service, and maintain our range of heavy-duty equipment. You will be responsible for driving to the job site, inspecting equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to a diversified fleet. Some travel to remote work sites may be for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting, servicing, and maintaining a mobile and off-road fleet such as trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment for proper performance
  • Adjusting, testing, and repairing engines, steering systems, braking systems, drive trains, vehicle suspensions, electrical systems, and air-conditioning systems
  • Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment
  • Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts
  • Repairing damaged equipment parts and perform major repair work when necessary including some welding and cutting where needed
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty and automotive vehicles
  • Driving to various job sites
  • Consulting with other Mechanics and Supervisor when needed
  • Prepares and submits necessary reports (daily, weekly, etc.)
  • Actively participate in the compliance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance System

Desired skills and Experience:

  • Trade Certification or Red Seal as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic
  • Must have a Class 5 driver's license at minimum - Class 3 is preferred,
  • CVIP license
  • Proven work experience with diesel or heavy equipment
  • Understanding of computer testing technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic & electrical systems, and construction equipment
  • Welding and cutting abilities
  • Ability to lift heavy machinery
  • Ability to work after-hours if required
  • Good communication skills
