Salary: $25 -30 Per hour POE

Join us in making a difference! Summit Community Services Society is seeking a Better at Home Coordinator to facilitate the United Way Better at Home program. The program serves adults over 65 years of age to support them to continue living independently in their own homes. The main goal of this program is to provide non-medical home support services to Seniors living at home and to connect Seniors through gatherings and activities.

About the Position:

The Better at Home Coordinator works with community partners to develop and coordinate the Better at Home program in the Kimberley area, building upon existing community services provided to seniors. This person will be highly competent at running programming and will be responsible for developing all aspects of the program based on funder requirements and community needs. This position is for someone who is highly flexible, who has a willingness to do some work from home, is capable of completing tasks on their own and who has excellent people skills.

Reports to: Executive Director

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a process and procedure manual for offering services to program participants.
  • Conducts outreach and implements marketing measures to connect to isolated or vulnerable seniors to ensure accessibility of services.
  • Recruit and train volunteers, staff, and contractors to carry the required services.
  • Schedule staff/programming/contractors for clients and maintain records of all programs, staff/volunteers/contractors, and clients.
  • Collaborates with existing seniors programming to inform the development of the program.
  • Liaise with referring agencies and other community partners, organize and facilitate team meetings as required.
  • Participate in grievance resolution procedures involving staff or clients.
  • Works with local Indigenous communities to develop and engage the community in seniors' programs, complementing existing programs.
  • Work with the Executive Director in all personnel related activities as required (hiring, discipline, performance evaluations, training, etc.)
  • Ensure all documentation regarding client and program records are accurate, and that confidentiality is maintained.
  • Ensures all services meet Better At Home standards and budgeting, Review files regularly to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Report to all funders and community partners as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience developing and managing community programs
  • Knowledge of local community resources
  • Experience working with the senior population
  • Bachelor's degree in social science/human services or a related discipline is an asset
  • Administrative and financial reporting experience is preferred.
