Lead Hand / Journeyperson Mechanic

Location: Chetwynd, BC

Our operation in Chetwynd is currently looking for a Lead Hand / Journeyperson Mechanic to join our team. Relocation assistance available for those not local to the area.

We offer personalized training, and the opportunity to work on high tech equipment. Working in accordance with OH&S Safety Regulations, Government Inspections Standards, and company rules, the Lead Hand / Mechanic will be working alongside Operations Personnel, Company Drivers, and fellow workers.

The Lead Hand / Mechanic will be responsible for overseeing maintenance of buses in the Chetwynd and Fort Nelson area. This role may require occasional travel.

This is a full-time permanent position available with a competitive wage ($45 - $50 per hour), group benefits package, and tool and boot allowance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise maintenance staff
  • Monitor manpower skill levels to ensure operating requirements and report on performances
  • Complete maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs
  • Service and repair vehicles in the shop or on-road in the event of a breakdown
  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical maintenance
  • Anticipate and troubleshoot breakdowns, list parts required and process orders
  • CVIP inspections
  • Work with Manager to meet budgets and equipment forecasts
  • Perform daily/weekly/monthly/yearly service on units as required
  • Ability to road test vehicles & safety equipment
  • Document all repairs on work orders using computer software
  • Communicate with operations and supervisory staff on availability of equipment
  • Prioritize jobs
  • Display professionalism towards our company and customers
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards, operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Technician Certification (Commercial Transport, Heavy Duty or Automotive)
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Computer proficiency
  • CVIP license
  • Own hand tools
  • Mechanical aptitude, analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
