DUTIES:
Reporting to the Manager of Employee Relations, this position will be responsible to provide confidential clerical and administrative support for the Employee Relations Division. Must maintain an accurate tracking and bring forward (B/F) system; Responsible for filing and photo-copying for the Employee Relations Division; types reports, Memorandum of Agreements, Minutes of Settlement; notices of new policies & procedures, correspondence such as letters to outside agencies, memos to various departments and other related material; Coordinates the typing, binding and distribution of the various Collective Agreements; Schedules staff appointments and meetings; answers or redirects inquiries; researches topics as required; maintains amiable relations with the public and fellow staff; Input data into the PeopleSoft HRMS system; maintains statistical data on excel spreadsheets; takes minutes at meetings and will prepare corresponding minutes for review and distribution; Will provide backup for the Human Resources Assistant to answer telephones and general inquires on an as needed basis; Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation's Health and Safety Program. Will perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a post secondary school community College diploma in Business Administration or Human Resources or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a computerized office environment utilizing the Microsoft suite of products;
  • OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus one (1) year of post secondary school courses in Business Administration or Human Resources or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalencies and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a computerized office environment utilizing the Microsoft suite of products;
  • OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalencies and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in a computerized office environment utilizing the Microsoft suite of products;
  • Must have the ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required. If method of travel is by vehicle, a current, valid and lawful Driver's Licence is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver's abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must have a typing speed of 50 w.p.m.;
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and maintain cordial relations with the public and all staff;
  • Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks with frequent interruptions; and possess excellent organizational skills;
  • Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work;
  • Previous experience in a Human Resources environment is considered an asset;
  • Previous working experience with PeopleSoft HRMS would be considered an asset;
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a sedentary level of work.
