Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the assigned program. This includes participating in program planning and delivery; coordination and support of volunteers; liaising with individuals and families accessing the service, and other service providers including community partners, contractors and other stakeholders; participating in program evaluation and in development/implementation of procedures which ensure evidence-based practice.

Start Date: Immediately

Location: 3020 Lincoln Ave, Coquitlam BC

Hours of work: 35 hours per week (some evenings and weekend may be required)

Responsibilities

  • Identifies the abilities, interests, and needs of seniors; develops and provides support based on these.
  • Plans, carries out and evaluates activities and services for seniors registered with the program.
  • Promotes public awareness and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Provides orientation, direction, and support to volunteers in order that they carry out their duties in a competent manner. Recruits, screens, trains, schedules, supervises, and plans the work of volunteers.
  • Liaises with volunteers, community partners and other service providers including contractors over day-to-day issues.
  • Maintains related records and reports in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Minimum post-secondary diploma in a field related to Social Work, Community Development, Gerontology or related areas.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in program coordination including volunteer management, providing support to seniors, needs assessment, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Speaking Farsi and Mandarin will be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with seniors, volunteers, other service providers including contractors, community partners and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and instructional skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Access to reliable vehicle.
