We are a research-based strategy firm with offices in Toronto and Vancouver. At INNOVATIVE, our principal product is advice. We work closely and collaboratively with our clients to uncover meaningful insights across brand and marketing research, corporate affairs and communications, public affairs and public opinion research, and stakeholder and public engagement. Most of our work is quantitative, but many of our projects also include qualitative research in the form of focus groups or one-on-one interviews.

The internship is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in project management, statistical analysis, working with qualitative and quantitative data, and preparing reports and presentations. It will give you exposure to the challenges faced by client companies today, and give you a solid foundation if your career aspirations are in consulting or research leadership. You will work with a talented team on unique, real-world challenges. Job Description

What you'll do

You'll be part of a consulting team led by experienced Vice Presidents and working closely with other Research Analysts, Consultants, Senior Consultants and Directors. We genuinely like the people we work with, and this is an excellent opportunity to be mentored by industry experts. You'll work mainly on client research reports in a setting that focuses on client deadlines – which means that sometimes we pitch in on evenings and weekends, but we balance that with a people-first, caring culture and offer flexibility around time off to help promote a healthier work-life balance.

This internship is for you if you are…

A dynamic self-starter who wants to work with a consulting team to deliver market research insights through a broad range of client projects. Our clients have come to rely on us to provide analysis that goes beyond the basics and data visualization that helps them easily understand key findings.

This opportunity will be perfect for you if you have excellent communication skills (writing or presenting your ideas), if you are resourceful, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized, and if you love problem-solving. We especially value if you are exceptional at prioritization and multi-tasking and we look for those who have a high desire to learn, collaborate, and share knowledge with others.

What you bring to the table…

  • You have completed or are working towards a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline (Political Science, Economics, Marketing, Business, Commerce, Psychology, Consumer Behavior, or Applied Mathematics)
  • You have some understanding of how to conduct quantitative and qualitative research, including questionnaire design, interviews and focus groups
  • You are familiar with analyzing and coding qualitative data or computer-aided text analysis
  • You have some working experience with SPSS and/or other statistical software packages
  • You have experience on projects and have good organizational and planning skills
  • You are strong with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Microsoft Word
  • You have access to a workspace with reliable high-speed internet where you can be comfortable and productive

Our clients are diverse, and we value diversity in our recruitment as well. Written and verbal second language skills in French, Punjabi, Mandarin, or Cantonese will be given strong consideration but is not mandatory.
