As our Elder's Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of activities and programs that support We'koqma'q Elders, fostering cultural, educational, social, economic, and recreational growth. This role emphasizes the enhancement of a strong cultural identity through the preservation and promotion of traditional practices. Additionally, the Coordinator will facilitate educational workshops, maintain participant databases, and ensure cultural integrity in meetings and ceremonies, contributing to We'koqma'q's cultural vitality.

DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITES

  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to provide quality cultural programs and services to our Elders.
  • Develop inter-generational opportunities for Elder and Youth activities.
  • Engage Elders and capture their input on policies, by-laws, and community matters.
  • Plan and facilitate motivational, informational, and educational workshops that align with our cultural values.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Band Administration, External Agencies, and Community Elders.
  • Produce an Elders monthly activities and programming calendar to keep our community informed.

REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Post-graduate degree or diploma in Social Work, social sciences, Indigenous Studies, or related.
  • At least three years of experience in social services, focusing on cultural program delivery.
  • Proven experience working in communities and knowledge of Elder issues.
  • Deep respect for and understanding of We'koqma'q culture and traditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and in a team.
