We are looking for an experienced real estate and residential property management finance professional to join our team as Director of Finance.

Summary

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Finance is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial health, planning, and management of the organization. This position requires a seasoned finance professional with a strong background in real estate finance, property management accounting financial analysis, and business strategy. The Director of Finance will play a crucial role in guiding financial decisions, optimizing capital structures, and supporting the company's overall financial objectives. This role oversees the financial operations of both Traine and Mainline Living, which presently manages 911 suites and has 1063 suites under construction/development.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with executive team in financial decision-making and strategic direction.
  • Optimize capital structures and financing for real estate projects.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions and investors.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making.
  • Create and deliver financial presentations to stakeholders

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages sharing best practices and developing innovative financial solutions for industry-specific challenges.
  • Lead and coach the finance team, fostering excellence and collaboration.
  • Provide guidance to property management accounting team.
  • Develop finance tools for business strategy visibility.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates to finance tools.

Financial Management and Analysis:

  • Utilize financial modeling for forecasting and strategic decision-making.
  • Manage corporate risk matrix and mitigate financial risks.
  • Optimize cash flow and working capital.
  • Analyze financial results and trends, proactively correct activities.
  • Evaluate and maintain insurance policies.
  • Oversee preparation and analysis of financial reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis and modeling for decision-making.

Property Management and Planning:

  • Develop financial planning processes for property management.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting for operating communities.
  • Develop standardized accounting policies and procedures across various properties to ensure consistency and reliability in financial data.
  • Establish robust accounting processes and systems tailored to the property management sector's needs, supporting business scalability and complexity.
  • Fully utilize Yardi software to streamline accounting processes, enhance financial reporting accuracy, and support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with VP of Property Management and Regional Property Managers for budgets and plans.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting for properties.
  • Implement cost control measures and expense management.
  • Maximize rental income and revenue opportunities.
  • Plan capital expenditures for property improvements.

Qualifications

  • CPA Designation required.
  • Prior experience in real estate finance, property management, financial modeling, and capital markets is required.
  • A background in residential property management accounting, with 5-10 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead and mentor finance teams, foster a culture of excellence and collaboration, and drive results, preferably within the real estate development or related industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of debt financing strategies, including the ability to structure and negotiate financing agreements, manage loan covenants, and optimize debt portfolios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify financial risks and opportunities and developing solutions.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey financial information and insights to stakeholders, including investors, senior management, and external partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience working with Adobe Pro.
  • Experience with the Yardi platform.
