Touchstone Institute works closely with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers who provide subject matter expertise to assess and improve the level of competency across individual practice. Building on its history of working to facilitate entry to training or practice for Internationally Educated Health Professionals, Touchstone Institute seeks to continue the work in this area while expanding to support excellence in competent practice for all who deliver health care.

Summer Student Role:

As a Data Analyst Summer Student at Touchstone Institute, you will report to the Information Technology Manager and play a crucial role in identifying valuable data sources and ensuring they are optimized for our analytical needs. You will be responsible for cleaning, transforming, and standardizing data to ensure consistency and accuracy in our analysis. This role requires a keen attention to detail, a strong foundation in data manipulation techniques, and the ability to present complex information in an accessible format.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Identification and Acquisition:

  • Identify and evaluate potential data sources relevant to project objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.

Data Cleaning and Transformation:

  • Clean data by identifying inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and missing values.
  • Transform data using appropriate techniques to ensure data quality and accessibility.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and processes to automate data handling and integration tasks.

Data Normalization:

  • Normalize data to ensure that datasets are structured in a standardized format.
  • Implement data validation rules to maintain the integrity of the data throughout its lifecycle.

Data Presentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare reports and visualizations to present insights in a clear and effective manner.
  • Assist in the development of dashboards and other tools that enable stakeholders to access and interact with data.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Data Analytics post-secondary program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet navigation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness

Contract Term: May to August
