Your role

As a Summer Student Child and Youth worker at the Children and Family Support Program, you will support the quality of life of the individuals we serve by ensuring that their physical, social, vocational, educational, and medical needs are met. You will be expected to work Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm, for the length of our children's Summer Camp (July 2 to August 30, 2024). You will be part of the team responsible for implementing all aspects of the CFS Summer Camp offering program activities for children and teens with developmental disabilities.

What you will bring

• Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in a BSW, BCYC, or equivalent program from an accredited post-secondary institution
• Demonstrated ability to advocate, provide personalized support and teach life skills and self-advocacy skills to participants
• Knowledge of theory, values and practices in community living including support systems
• Ability to work effectively with children, families, staff, volunteers, and organizations
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated good time and general management skills
• Positive role model, including modeling a healthy lifestyle

• Have a current and satisfactory criminal record check
• Be fully immunized against Covid-19
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada
• Have reliable transportation to get to and from program
