What you will be doing:

Culture & Performance

  • Spearhead and oversee initiatives related to employee engagement, well-being, and leadership programs.
  • Support People Leaders and provide support in various aspects of team management, including engagement, motivation, goal setting, and performance reviews.
  • Utilize data-driven insights from systems to enhance team engagement and retention
  • Enable a culture of celebration and fun through being a member of the Social Committee and organizing celebrations, events, charity giving.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Home Team Members and leaders to foster positive relationships and promote high levels of employee trust.
  • Support leaders through the performance management cycle, job evaluation, and performance improvement plans.
  • Assist in designing and implementing training programs for people managers to enhance leadership skills.

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Manage and execute Epicure's recruiting process including posting positions externally and internally, screening candidates, preparing interview guides that align with the Epicure values, conducting behavioural interviews, completing reference checks, preparing contracts, and negotiating terms with candidates
  • Treat every applicant with highest level of dignity and respect throughout the entire recruiting process
  • Innovate and implement progressive recruitment systems and procedures, including the use of social media, video interviews, skill-based testing, and use of sourcing networks
  • Educate and support People Managers on Epicure's recruitment practices, support hiring managers to develop interview skills
  • Facilitate the onboarding process and support managers to ensure their new team members are set up to be successful during their first 90 days and beyond
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, community programs, schools, and Home Team Members
  • Conduct the formal onboarding process for new Home Team Members including first-day orientation, tours and introductions, documentation and any other assistance as required.

HR Practices & Advisory

  • Maintain the integrity of HR data and ensure accurate internal records using the HR Information System (BambooHR).
  • Utilize complete functionality of the HR Information System from recruiting through onboarding, tracking time-off, administering the Epicure handbook and associated people policies, etc.
  • Act as a resource for employees and managers in HR policies and procedures
  • Assist in policy development, documentation, training, and implementation.
  • Prepare employee confirmation letters, reference letters, LOA letters, and resignation confirmation letters for HTM upon request
  • Provide support to the Human Resources department by responding to inquiries from Home Team Members
  • Conduct exit interviews and provide timely advice on medical leaves, including LTD and maternity/paternity leaves.
  • Collaborate with the wider HR team to develop innovative HR initiatives that align with company objectives.

Training and Development

  • Design and implement employee training and development programs
  • Collaborate with leaders to create individual development plans for continuous learning and growth.
  • Support leaders to ensure that people development remains a consistent priority.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Support on the annual compensation review process
  • Liaise with Finance, specifically with Payroll to ensure integrity of payroll and benefits administration, process changes, etc.
  • Act as the point of contact for all Home Team Member inquiries regarding benefits

In addition to the above, additional tasks may be required from time to time.

What you have:

  • 3+ years of experience working in a fast-paced HR department
  • A strategic mindset
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in HR. CHRP designation an asset
  • Experience with and confidence with HR Information Systems
  • A demonstrated professional and talent acquisition leader with a positive outlook
  • Flexibility to meet constantly changing needs of Epicure
  • Good understanding of HR Best Practices
  • Continuous improvement focus
  • Working knowledge of ESA, and Human Rights Legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Analytical, with strong problem solving and influencing skills with a practical approach
  • A self-motivated individual who can operate autonomously but also as part of a team
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and confidence to navigate in the ‘grey' areas
