As a summer student, you will be a part of our internal Help Desk team. Your role will involve maintaining and supporting the technology infrastructure at our main office and remote locations. You will gain practical experience in troubleshooting a variety of issues related to hardware, software, and networking. This position provides a unique opportunity to learn and grow in a real-world IT environment, working alongside professionals who will guide you in resolving technical issues. This position is a temporary summer student position contingent on funding through the Canada Summer Job Program (CSJP) This position works 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday for 8 weeks between May to September. As a requirement of the CSJP, this position is open to youth up to 30 years of age. Candidates must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Provides technical support and guidance through Tier I support and works on technical issues to provide timely resolutions
  • Support the IT Infrastructure which includes workstations, laptops, hardware, software, printers, networking, remote access, connectivity, office productivity tools (O365, Teams, Zoom, VPN)
  • Responsible for maintaining detailed trouble tickets, escalating issues accordingly and keeping a consistent communication channel open with customers and other IT Team Members
  • Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction of support and service requests.
  • Maintain quality conscious interface via phone, virtual, and email with both technical and non-technical clients
  • Maintain and documents desktop application packages, participates in the testing and evaluation of new desktop packages, and implements prototypes.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization and peers to reach common goal.
  • Prepare metrics, activity and progress reports regarding projects, tasks, and operations as required.
  • Continuously assess service quality and recommend process improvements to management.
  • Install, configure and update operating systems, software, peripherals And cloud-based applications
  • Learn a deeper understanding of Networking concepts, Active Directory, Wi-Fi, Windows Deployment, scripting (PowerShell) and Mobile Device Management
  • Provide support for in-meeting room audio-visual equipment including setup and maintenance
  • Deliver technical training for common issues to end-users
  • Participate in IT initiatives, including research, evaluation and deployment of new software and hardware.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Currently or will be enrolled in a degree/diploma program in Information Technology, Computer Science or related program
  • A+ knowledge and/or working towards industry Microsoft certification
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to track and follow through on tasks with accuracy and attention to details
  • Knowledge of server configurations, installations, and systems administration
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Microsoft Operating System experience and knowledge of scripting would be beneficial
  • Previous experience with desktop setup and server configurations, installations, and/or management of Active Directory
