Job Title: Senior Electrical EngineerJob ID: PL989766614Location: Vancouver, BCOverview:The Electrical Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time. What you will be doing:
- This role requires demonstrated experience with the electrical design for Overhead - lines and underground cables for operating voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility environment.
- Prepare project documentation and deliverables in accordance with the company's project and Engineering Design Practices (i.e. evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis', calculations, hazard logs, test plans).
- Prepare design work packages including scope, duration, and level of effort estimates.
- Prepare signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC and the company's Design Practices.
- Provide technical assistance and construction support in the field, and undertake field reviews as required by EGBC.
- Prepare designs for existing and new facilities.
- Perform various engineering calculations in accordance with regulatory and industry standards such as electrical clearances, electromagnetic and electrostatic field calculations and related induction studies, transient over voltage, switching voltages, AC interference, ampacity, radio interference, audible noise, lightning protection, grounding, arcing, soil resistivity, EMTP.
- Prepare designs, drawings, and specifications for electrical systems on Transmission Overhead - Lines such as line surge arresters, line disconnect switches, lightening protection, circuit to circuit separation.
- Prepare reports for internal and external clients detailing investigations, evaluation, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Provide technical guidance and review of designs prepared by others following established practices.
- Manage design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost.
- Demonstrated experience of 5 or more years in three or more of the following is essential.
- Power system grounding: soil resistivity measurements and modeling, grounding design, step and touch potential analysis, risk-based hazard assessment.
- Electrical design for overhead transmission lines: electrical clearances, insulation coordination, insulation design, lightning protection.
- AC interference analysis: electromagnetic interference between powerlines and pipelines, railways, fences, etc.
- Software skills: General programming in MS Excel, existing experience in modelling using EMTP-RV, WinIGS or SES Tools (CDEGS, HIFREQ, ROW Pro, MALZ).
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC

- Intermediate English skills for professional environment, written and spoken
- Familiarity witha CAD systems and drawing standards
- Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
