This role will be to support the strategic direction of the Company through efficient accounting functions. This will be a developing role, alongside the current Accounting Coordinator, and as such duties and responsibilities are likely to evolve as your employment progresses. This position is a hands-on role and will require the incumbent to work collaboratively with all of our client's staff to ensure the processes are running efficiently. The Accounting Department is evolving, which means this position has plenty of room for input on strategic change.

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing all accounting tasks to support the timely and accurate preparation of the internal monthly Financial Statements.

The incumbent should have at minimum, a two-year accounting diploma combined with five years of relevant full cycle accounting. Good working knowledge of Quickbooks and Excel. Experience with PayWorks an asset.

Direct areas of responsibility:

Fixed Asset tracking and reconciliation of costs and amortization to the G/L

Inventory reconciliation to G/L

Various month end G/L account reconciliations

Payroll management and processing through PayWorks (less than 20 employees)

Employee Benefit Management

Reconciling all payroll related G/L accounts on a monthly basis

Accruing/deferring payroll hours at month end

Preparing GST and PST remittances and ensuring payments are made as required.

Reconciling WCB accounts

Shared areas of responsibility with current Account Coordinator:

Ensuring all month-end closing procedures are followed

Monitor all outstanding Purchase Orders and Work Order at month end

Preparation of accurate internal Monthly Financial Statements.

Preparation of working papers and year end reconciliations for external Accountants

Ensuring all Corporate Taxes in a timely manner
