Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Property & Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective management and oversight of the Property & Maintenance Department and Security Department to meet the needs of the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provide leadership focused on effective management of organization resources and maintain outcome-driven department practices.
  • Utilize hands-on management and oversight to lead department staff, utilizing techniques including coaching, mentoring, and performance management to provide guidance, support, and effective coordination.
  • Manage the provision of comprehensive property management services for the SAI housing portfolio.
  • Problem-solve department challenges; identify and implement solutions.
  • Liaise with regional partners to respond to property & maintenance and security needs.
  • Lead implementation of the SAI Asset Management Policy.
  • Prepare annual budget, initiate, and monitor expenditures within approved budget limits and reallocate resources as authorized under the direction of the Director of Operations.
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of reports, statistics, and measurable outcomes.
  • Provides leadership to a team of operational, technical, and administrative staff; hires staff within approved complement; creates an environment that allows for a supportive and progressive attitude among staff; promotes improved performance through counselling and coaching and by ensuring that staff are provided with information and training necessary for the conduct of their assigned duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in public administration, project management, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Extensive experience in managing operational, administrative, and financial activities, preferably in property management or community development.
  • Ability to speak Anishinaabe is preferred and a definite asset.
  • Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation or similar certification related to housing management would be considered an asset.
  • Two - three years experiencing in a supervisory position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced and complex work environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, diplomacy, sound judgement and decision making.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations perspectives, culture, and philosophies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain external relationships.
  • Ability to travel to Southeast First Nations Communities.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Must have a current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Prior Contact Check as conditions of employment.
