Pay Rate: $90/hr incorporated; T4 rates also available

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in mother/baby nursing for a travel position in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a mother/baby setting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide care to mothers and newborns in the postpartum unit

• Monitor maternal vital signs, bleeding, and postpartum recovery

• Assess newborns for vital signs, feeding, and overall health

• Assist with breastfeeding support and newborn care education

• Administer medications and interventions as needed for both mother and baby

• Collaborate with healthcare team for comprehensive care planning

• Educate mothers on postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding techniques

• Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for mother-baby bonding

• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education

• Respond to any emergencies or complications promptly

• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure in Nova Scotia

• 4 years of experience in a mother/baby setting.

• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations.

• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required.
