  • This a 4-day, 10hr shift - 40hrs per week working Monday to Thursday 4:30pm - 3:00am.
  • Hourly Wage: $23.50/hr during 720 hr probation time period, then increases to $24.50/hr + afternoon shift premium

Responsibilities:

  • Shear and trim sheet steel and plate according to written or verbal instructions, sketches, blueprints etc.
  • Operate the shear machine and adjust the backstop controls in a safe manner
  • Measure dimensions of work pieces, using measuring tape, gauge, template, or ruler and square, for conformance to specifications
  • Lift work pieces manually, by forklift or by overhead crane, positions and secures against guides and stops.
  • Perform preventative measures as required such as lubricating and cleaning machines, with daily record keeping.
  • Maintain a safe work environment while maximizing productivity, and follow all safety guidelines (includes wearing proper protective equipment)
  • Perform required housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean and safe working area
  • Job requirements may be changed or altered as needed, depending on business demands

Qualifications and skills:

  • At least 1 year experience with the use of hydraulic shears or press brake
  • Ability to set-up and run machinery without supervision
  • Ideally the ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Lean Manufacturing & 5s training & experience is an asset
  • CNC control experience
  • Experience with measuring tools such as: calipers, verniers, protractors
  • Complete measurement conversions from metric to imperial, fractions to decimals.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Assessment of Skills & Ability may be required.
  • Working 40 hours per week, 4 days per week - Monday to Thursday
  • Afternoon shift - 4:30pm - 3:00am
  • Please note - must be able to be trained on the day shift 6am-4:30pm for the first 4-6 weeks
  • Plant Location - 3 Keensford Court Ajax, ON (close to the 401)
