What you'll be working on:

  • Responsible for overseeing and motivating maintenance employees in all areas including safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Establish priorities, goals, and take strategic actions to ensure the effective operations of machinery/equipment within the production facility.
  • Oversee the development and administration of all maintenance programs.
  • Assist with resolving work problems or assist maintenance personnel in solving technical issues.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and support maintenance personnel in a constructive and respectful manner. In addition, administer progressive disciplinary measures to those who have been found in violation of the company's policies and procedures.
  • Provide recommendation regarding working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency, as needed.
  • Help ensure there is an adequate inventory of tools, supplies and parts for repairing machinery/equipment.
  • Responsible for overseeing all repair and installation activities.
  • Inspect completed work assignments to ensure they meet manufacturer and compliance standards.
  • Perform regular inspections of machinery/equipment with respect to safety issues including, ground and trip hazards, non-functioning lights, broken pieces along with exposed wiring.
  • Maintain machinery/equipment through established preventative maintenance program (PM).
  • Act as a liaison between the company and service providers.
  • Assist with preparing maintenance schedules and forecast the estimate time required for maintenance personnel to complete work assignments.
  • Assist with managing and submitting work orders.
  • Assist with enforcing guidelines (ISO, HACCP, and GMP) and ensure compliance with all applicable food safety standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance personnel wear and utilize all safety equipment correctly as needed.
  • Participate and/or support in all internal and external maintenance audits.
  • Assist with development of SOP's and LOTO procedures for new and existing machinery/equipment.
  • Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years' experience working in the manufacturing industry in a leadership role (food manufacturing experience is considered a strong asset).
  • At least 3 years' experience working in a maintenance role (food manufacturing experience considered a strong asset).
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or trade is an asset
  • A continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated experience in LEAN manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
  • Intermediate to advance skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and third-party software).
  • Must be willing to work off hours/weekends (if required)
  • Strong working knowledge process safety management and preventative maintenance program.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster cooperation and teamwork within the workplace.
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence are an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized work environment is considered an asset.
  • Able to work in a cool environment (we mean that both ways- we're awesome and our plant is kept at a cool 2-4-degree temperature).
  • A creative problem solver, who enjoys engaging in challenging activities.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
