The Opportunity:

The Recreation Coordinator role will be serving the community of Care Human Services in Grimshaw, Alberta. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring top resident care is priority, with an elevated level of focus in time management. We are looking for a caring professional, with strong leadership skills to guide our dynamic team who provide hospitality and wellness services within our supportive living community.

We are interested in candidates seeking:

Full - Time Temporary Days Mon - Fri and some weekends

  • Provides care in a manner that demonstrates the principles of appropriate choice, dignity, privacy, independence, and individuality in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
  • Supports the Resident's lifestyle in their Community environment in accordance with the Resident's individualized Care Plan as authorized by Homecare
  • Using the available resources, the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for delegating, coordinating, and evaluating the delivery of recreational services based on the Resident Care Plan & Service Plan
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and coordination of recreation services & programs.
  • Supervises/manages/directs the activities of the Recreation Team and facilitates effective two-way communication with all parties involved in care.
  • Apply the concern resolution process in a timely manner as required.
  • Respond to concerns/ issues and conduct appropriate incident investigations as they relate to care/services within the Community.
  • Follows and enforces the Emergency Management Plan, Infection Control protocol, WHMIS, and Health & Safety Wellness Strategies.
  • Responsible for audits and reports, providing and evaluating the delivery of recreational services based on the Resident Care Plan & Service Plan
  • Supports the residents in identifying personal leisure barriers
  • Follows the Emergency Management Plan, Infection Control protocol, WHMIS, and Health & Safety
  • Assisting with daily life and duties within the Community
  • Participates in projects and quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain appropriate levels of certification
  • Someone who embodies patient leadership skills, while exemplifying team player behavioristics
  • Professional motivator, coach, and mentor

Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent is required. Must be able to read, write and speak fluently in English.
  • Diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, or Recreation Administration is preferred.
  • Must hold valid certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Obtain prior to employment, a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check
  • Experience working with seniors is preferred
  • Experience supporting recreation programs is preferred
